Áhoora is a Kurdish Iranian musician, educator, and researcher based in Helsinki. With a master's degree in Global Music from the Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki, Áhoora blends Middle Eastern traditions with contemporary and electronic sounds, creating a unique sonic identity.
As a versatile percussionist and multi-instrumentalist, Áhoora is known for his innovative use of traditional instruments like the Daf, Darbuka, and Tombak, seamlessly integrating them with electronic elements. His performances and projects highlight themes of cultural diversity, resilience, and identity, bridging the sounds of Iran, the Middle East, and the global music scene. Beyond performing, Áhoora is a dedicated educator and researcher, teaching Finnish as a Foreign Language and working on a PhD that explores Kurdish music, microtonality, and cross-cultural music education. His work focuses on making microtonal music accessible to musicians from diverse backgrounds. |
